As you may have seen via our Facebook page and Twitter updates, I spent a few hours last weekend riding the new MAX Green Line. It was five hours of street fairs, free ride and masses of people. So, pretty much it was a really good time. I got to meet a ton of cool people and enjoy a sunny day!
I also learned some interesting fact, which I wanted to share with you:
- The first MAX line (now called the Blue Line) opened in 1986 and it took about four years to build.
- The new Green Line Runs 8.3 miles and is the first to go into Clackamas County.
- The MAX Red Line was the first west coast light train to plane rail service. (It opened in 2001.)
- All of the light rail projects have been completed on time and within or under budget. (I like this one!)

If you live or visit the Portland metro area, I encourage use the light rail service. It is really user friendly. Plus, you can ride it for free downtown. So you can go from Pioneer Courthouse Square to the Saturday Market with ease.
Here are some other trip suggestions:
*Check out the Oregon Zoo, then head over to the Lloyd District for some lunch. I recommend Milo’s on 15th and Broadway. It’s a little bit of a walk, but worth it.
*Go shopping at Clackamas Town Center, then head to the Hollywood District and check out a movie at the Hollywood Theater.
*Avoid the parking mess when heading down to the Rose Quarter for an event. Take MAX and get curbside service!
So there’s a little light rail action for you. Green really does mean go with the light rail now!
P.S. Here’s the view from the new Green Line.
