Hear What You're Missing

There are so many bands and musical artists in the world that we can’t possibly discover them all on our own. Here are 12 bands/musicians that I think are fantastic and incredibly versatile as artistic expressionists. Some are relatively unheard of on the west coast, and others aren’t well recognized in America. Holli helped me out and introduced me to a few new bands that I  really enjoyed and included on the list.

Instead of trying to describe each musician, I decided I’d list the names and let you experience the music on fresh slate. It’s like walking into a white room, just let the music paint your own pictures. I really do think all these musicians are worth listening to, so let me know who you liked and which musical experiences you connected with.

1-Iron & Wine

2-M. Ward

3-Jose Gonzalez

4-Xavier Rudd

5-Frou Frou

6-Carla Bruni

7-Feist

8-Blue Mountain

10-Blitzen Trapper

I have to say that I do love Iron & Wine. I would add The Swell Season to the list (they are playing McDonald Theater 11-23-09) and Portishead.

Great post, Tyler! I'm glad you liked some of the artists! I LOVE Iron & Wine- "Sixteen, Maybe Less" and "No Moon" are awesome (perfect writing music)! I also wanted to add a few more amazing musicians that I adore: Lykke Li, Rocco Deluca & The Burden, Anya Marina, Guster, and Spoon. :) Happy listening!!

Holli: Yeah I actually liked Lykke Li quite a bit also, I think you suggest that artist to me as well. I'll be sure to check out the rest of them!

Thea: I listened to The Swell Season for a little while today. I enjoyed them, especially "Low Rising". Did you make it to the concert at McDonald Theatre? I'm sure it would have been a great one.
